This is a relatively short, but adventurous walk around the countryside to the south west of Colerne. There is a fair bit of steep climbing on the walk as you descend down into Breach wood and then work your way back up to Colerne through pretty countryside, where you'll then visit the lovely church and pub.

You will enjoy lots of open countryside along the Wessex Ridgeway, visit the small village of Chicklade and then climb up into some majestic woodlands. It's quite a climb up into the woods, so be prepared for a bit of a workout before working your way back down to a reward at the lovely pub in Hindon.

This is a good alternative starting point for a walk around the historic site of Avebury. The car park here is free and you start at the largest prehistoric chalk mound in Europe (Silbury Hill) before walking alongside the River Kennet to the Avebury site.
